Why do my spices clump together?
It is very normal that all-natural spices clump together. The exposure to air (over time) can cause spices to clump. The release of proteins or carbohydrates from the spice dissolves over time causing granules to stick together. Unlike most all industrial grocery store spice, we DO NOT have anti-caking agents or other chemical compounds in our spices or spice blends. Although many of these chemical compounds can prevent clumping, we value an all-natural product unharmed by chemicals or compound agents.
What can I do to prevent spice clumping?
- Keep your spices in an airtight container or jar.
- The jar provided by Southern Roots Spice is efficient.
- DO NOT sprinkle over “cooking” food. Use a small bowl or the palm of your hand when adding additional spices to cooking food.
- The moisture (steam) will cause spices to stick together.
- Keep spices in a dark and cool location.
- Most cabinets and pantries will suffice.
- Remove the top, take the handle of a spoon or fork (make sure its dry) and vigorously stir spices dissolving clumps.
Are your spices an all-natural product?
Southern Roots Spice exceeds the American Society for Nutrition standards for what is considered a natural product. Our products are not grown with chemicals or pesticides exceeding current standards for many “natural” products where pesticides can be often used and still be considered all-natural.
Do you use thickening agents, anti-caking agents or tricalcium phosphates in your spices or spice blends?
Unlike most all industrial grocery store spice, we DO NOT have thickening agents or other chemical compounds in our spices or spice blends. Our spices are made in small batches with small growers throughout the United States.

How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders are typically processed within 3 business days. As soon as your order ships, you will be provided with a tracking number via email so you can track the status of your shipment. If your order is sent via standard shipping, expect it to arrive within 5-7 business days.
What is the store return policy?
If you are not 100% satisfied with your spice or spice blend, you can return the product and get a full refund or exchange the product for another one, additional cost may be incurred for exchanges. You can return a product for up to 15 days from the date you purchased it.
What happens if my package is damaged during delivery?
From the simplest standpoint, the carrier has responsibility and liability when they take control of your package from us. But things happen, please email us immediately, at email@example.com with photo showing damage. We will always do our personal best to resolve damaged items requiring full or partial order replacements.
What if my packaged does not arrive?
Once your order has been shipped from our store, you will receive an email stating “You’ve Been Seasoned”. This email will contain your USPS tracking information. You will be able to monitor your package while in transit. Once the package has been designated “Delivered” we are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. We will provide you any additional tracking information we might have for your claim with USPS.
